Mr. Michael Dowling, President Long Island Jewish Medical Center is one of the clinical and academic hubs of Northwell Health. We are a 1,624 bed, non-profit, tertiary care teaching hospital serving the greater NY Metropolitan area. LIJ Medical Center serves as a clinical campus for the Hofstra Northwell Health School of Medicine, which is owned by Northwell Health in a partnership with Hofstra University. Our graduate medical education program is one of the largest in New York State with 45 Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education approved specialty programs. The full-time faculty includes more than 500 physicians and dentists who supervise care in all major specialties and participate in the medical center’s extensive teaching and research programs. LIJ Medical Center is comprised of five divisions: Long Island Jewish, Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Long Island Jewish Forest Hills, Long Island Jewish Valley Stream and Zucker Hillside Hospital. Long Island Jewish (LIJ) is a 583 bed voluntary adult care hospital with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, and full facilities for medical, surgical dental and obstetrical care. It features the Institute of Oncology, as well as a high-risk pregnancy program. LIJ offers world-class cardiology, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, orthopaedics, head and neck oncology, urology, gynecology and vascular programs. The honor was bestowed again in 2015. Other distinctions include: American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery Academic Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Surgery in Gynecologic Oncology and Gynecology; Commission on Cancer Accreditation:, U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals 2014-2015; and Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality, Human Rights Campaign (2016). Cohen Children's Medical Center is one of the nation's finest children's hospitals providing state-of-the-art care for children's medical, surgical and dental needs. Our nationally and internationally recognized programs include Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Stem Cell (Bone Marrow) Transplantation. For the 10th consecutive year in 2016, Cohen’s was ranked among the best children’s hospitals in the nation in U.S. News & World Report's 2016-17 “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” survey. Also in 2016, Cohen Children’s Medical achieved Magnet status from the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center (ANCC), becoming the only children’s hospital in New York State to earn this prestigious designation. Zucker Hillside Hospital is a 222 bed, nationally recognized behavioral health center known for its pioneering work in diagnosis, treatment and research of mental illness. The inpatient service treats the full gamut of psychiatric disorders with distinct units serving adults, adolescents and the elderly. Zucker Hillside also provides a full continuum of outpatient services including general ambulatory services for all age groups as well as Partial Hospital, Continuing Day Treatment, Substance Abuse and Psychiatric Rehabilitation programs. The National Institute of Health has established a Clinical Research Center for the Study of Schizophrenia at Zucker Hillside Hospital, one of only four such facilities nationwide. Treatment specialties include early phase treatment, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar and personality disorders, as well as a discreet women’s unit. Long Island Jewish Valley Stream is a 305-bed community hospital offering a comprehensive array of programs and services to patients from Nassau and Southeastern Queens Counties. Inpatient services include general adult and geriatric care, a coronary care and intensive care unit, a telemetry unit, a surgical step down unit, a psychiatry unit, and a hospice unit. Other distinctions include: American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Gold Stroke Quality Achievement Award; American College of Radiology Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence™; and Commission on Cancer Accreditation. Long Island Jewish Forest Hills is a 312-bed community teaching hospital located in an ethnically diverse residential neighborhood in Northern Queens, providing inpatient medical and surgical care, intensive care, obstetrics and gynecology. The hospital is designated as a Level II Perinatal Center. The Emergency Department is a 911 receiving site, a certified heart station, as well as a NYS designated Stroke Center. Distinctions include AHA/ASA Gold Plus Stroke Award; Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence; NCQA Diabetes Care; Commission on Cancer Accreditation.
