North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove is dedicated to providing the community with access to the highest quality health care in a compassionate and respectful manner, coordinating a broad spectrum of primary, secondary and specialized services to preserve and improve the health of individual patients and the entire community. In accordance with our Mission, the provision of these services is without regard to race, creed, gender, color or national origin, sexual preference, or nature of the source of payment for care. The service philosophy of North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove is embodied in the ten principles of "The Caring Hands Pledge," the first of which is "Know the patient comes first. He or she is our reason for being here." North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove has an extensive and comprehensive Quality Management Program. In association with the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System Quality Management Program, we work to assure that "the patient comes first," and that "best practices" are consistently implemented. Therefore, every three years we voluntarily request that the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations review us against their set of accreditation requirements. Our continued success, as well as our System's continued success in the accreditation program, is a direct reflection of our commitment to our Mission, our community and each individual who accesses our services. We have volunteered to participate in the Joint Commission on Accreditation's Unannounced Survey program, as well as the pilot for publicly reported data on core measures. Additionally, the Family Practice Clinic of North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove was the proud and deserving recipient of an Honorable Mention in the 2004 Pinnacle Award for the extremely effective and innovative Outreach Program it has implemented throughout the community.
