OSF St. Mary Medical Center is the recipient of the 2007 Lincoln Silver Award for Progress Towards Excellence.

The Lincoln Silver Award for Progress Towards Excellence is given to businesses and organizations recognizing them for demonstrating sound and notable continuous improvement toward excellence. The Lincoln Foundation uses the Baldridge Criteria for Performance Excellence for Business, Education and Health Care. The Lincoln Foundation for Performance Excellence is a not-for-profit organization based by both private and public funding that assist Illinois organizations to continuously improve their performance by encouraging, developing and highlighting excellence among all five sectors of the economy: industry, service, health care, education and government.

A team of Lincoln Examiners review and assess each award application in seven areas, that include leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, information and analysis, human resource focus, process management and results and a panel of Judges determine which applicants have earned recognition. OSF St. Mary Medical Center underwent a thorough and extensive site visit from 10 surveyors with the Lincoln Foundation in September. During that time, the surveyors spoke with hospital employees, volunteers and physicians regarding the deployment of key strategic areas such as leadership and process management.
